Antoon Derkinderen - Kunst voor iedereen?

Perhaps you’ve seen them before: the large painted walls in the old town hall of ’s-Hertogenbosch. At the time, they were a subject of debate. In 2025, we mark the 100th anniversary of their creator’s death, Antoon Derkinderen. His work was called community art (gemeenschapskunst)—art created for society. How do we view this today? What is the significance of community art in the present day?
