Doorzetters

Art and sport have more in common than you might think: both require perseverance. Doorzetters is about the power of sport: both in real life and in art. Here, you’ll see how artists and athletes inspire each other. And remember: you won’t just see movement here—you’ll get moving yourself!

Art and Sport Come Together

Running through the museum gallery? Or rowing while admiring a painting? In the exhibition Doorzetters (Endurance), you’ll discover how art and sport have more in common than you might think. Artists show how movement, repetition, and perseverance play a role in both sport and creativity.

In Doorzetters, you’ll view sport through the lens of art. From a painting depicting the effort of a marathon runner to a work focusing on the discipline of a swimmer, sport inspires artists—and visitors too. The museum becomes a gym for the brain.

More Than Just Performance

Doorzetters doesn’t just highlight the power of sport, but also the challenges it brings. What does sport tell us about gender and identity? How does it refer to a colonial past? Artists such as Jeroen Jongeleen and Yves Klein uniquely showcase how sport and society are intertwined.

Get Involved!

In addition to the exhibition, the museum is organizing sporty and creative activities. From tag 2.0 in the museum galleries to a Brabant sports day and in-depth evening programs on the themes of the exhibition. Keep an eye on the museum’s website, social media, and newsletter for updates!

Exhibition Accessibility

The Doorzetters exhibition includes elements—besides the artworks—that may not be fully accessible for visitors with physical disabilities. While we strive to offer an inclusive experience, some parts of the exhibition may present challenges.

Do you have questions about accessibility or need support during your visit? Please let us know at info@hnbm.nl or speak to a museum staff member during your visit.
